  • DSTC is exceptionally proud to announce our recent "Week of Culture", celebrating the vibrant and diverse community we have at our school. Each House researched, planned and delivered an assembly on cultures from around the world, focussing on countries of their choice in each continent. On Wednesday of our Week of Culture, we had a cultural bake sale, raising £209.56 which will be donated to a local charity. During form time, students had the opportunity to be even more creative, designing and making collages of different cultures for our main hall displays. Without a doubt, a highlight of the week for us was our cultural dress day on Friday, where students were invited to wear clothes associated with their own cultures and subcultures. It was a wonderful and uplifting experience to see diversity celebrated fully. #embraceculture

  • On Friday 26th April students in Year 8 attended an Inspiring Minds workshop run by Canterbury Christ Church University. The students explored AI and discussed whether robots can be autonomous. They then got to make their own mini robot - a bristlebot to take away. It was a great, thought provoking session and the students learnt a lot.

  • Last term in English students studied one of their GCSE texts - 'Jekyll & Hyde' by Robert Louis Stevenson. As their final piece of homework for this unit I asked them to either write a book review or create a new book cover. Some of our talented students created these outstanding book covers that I just had to share! They're amazing and have gone straight up on display at school.
